Hello! I’m Erica, the DesignerArtist of EricaAnn Glass Studio. Since childhood, I’ve always needed to make things and experiment with materials. While earning my Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design, I realized I desperately needed to touch and feel my medium rather than clicking design around on a computer. I dabbled in textiles: fabric dying, silk painting, screen printing, embroidery, weaving and sewing. I experimented with multimedia painting. I taught myself seedbead-weaving. And then, through a neighbor-muse, I found the medium that calls to me louder than all the others: Stained Glass.

Glass is fragile, yet uniquely strong. It breaks when you least expect it, but with skill, the breaking can be controlled. The science of color and light are on full display with glass, visually evolving as varied light passes through. With intense heat, you can melt and mold it. With tiny diamonds, you can grind and shape cut glass to create your own “puzzle.” Edge the glass pieces with metals (copper and lead) and it all just… sticks together. That’s the art of Stained Glass.

I enjoy complex things. I must experiment and learn by doing. The balance of complexity with composition to look effortless — that is how I define design. I am a designer with artistic sensibilities, feeling the most inner joy creating custom commissions with my clients’ visions in the forefront. As a DesignerArtist, it is my job to gather your ideas and organize them visually into a beautiful work of art. I’m really excited to see what we create, together!

My work is detailed. I enjoy the tediousness of lots of pieces, the methodical nature of precision. I appreciate the uniqueness of custom designs rather than replicating existing visuals. For these reasons, I have minimum piece counts and I will not replicate logos or characters of any kind. That’s right: no sports, brand or military logos, cartoon characters or trendy, common motifs.

That’s just not my jam.
